Honourable Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh inaugurates Naandi's Midday Meal kitchen on 31 May 2010
Shri Raman Singh, chief minister of Chhattisgarh inaugurated Naandi's centralised Midday Meal (MDM) kitchen to provide freshly cooked hot meals to 40,000 government schoolchildren in the district of Korba, Chhattisgarh. It may be recalled that Naandi had singed a memorandum of understanding with the state government and BALCO in May 2009 in this regard.
The MDM programme is a joint venture between Government of Chhattisgarh, BALCO and Naandi Foundation. Naandi's Midday meal Program started in February 2003, the program is present in five states and is servingmore than a million meals to the schoolchildren everyday.
Impressed by the implementation of MDM programme in Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Orissa, government of Chhattisgarh invited Naandi to set up Centralised Kitchen and provide nutritious and hot cooked meals to government schoolchildren.
Naandi attempts to eradicate hunger and malnutrition through its Midday meal program .Now it entered Chhattisgarh with an automated centralised kitchen in Korba.
This highly automated Kitchen will prepare and deliver high nutrition noon meals to 40,000 schoolchildren in Korba district. The kitchen uses stainless cooking vessels with steam injection facilities to ensure hygienic cooking. Meals provided to children will ensure the required calories and proteins which will help in reducing malnutrition in the areas we operate.
Presently, there are 23 kitchens operating in 5 states of India by Naandi Foundation and still Naandi is counting to continue more kitchens to feed the unfed.
