Child Rights
India is among the most dangerous places in the world for a child to be in. We are 6th in a global poll, which ranks countries where children are most vulnerable (source Reuter-Alertnet poll 2006)

But unlike war-torn countries, it is the violence of poverty that makes the Indian child vulnerable. Consequently, when it comes to investing in the country and in its future, the need to pay close attention to the needs of poor children who outnumber their better off peers by millions, cannot be overstated.

Naandi’s Child Rights portfolio spanning slums in cities, rural villages and tribal hamlets in the country takes on the responsibility of nation building together with the state. The initiatives aim at enabling children born into disadvantaged families access to opportunities that make them productive, responsible citizens of the country.

Our portfolio derives from a range of government programmes in the country - be it for integrated child development, or for elementary education - that have enormous potential to improve the life of children. The conviction that every child is entitled to quality care and nurture - at various stages of life she must get essential health, education and nutritional inputs irrespective of whether her parents can pay for it or not - guides our interventions. They cover the entire lifecycle of a child - right from the pre-schooling age to pre-adulthood to converging critical inputs of health, nutrition and education to equip her with those faculties and capabilities necessary to improve her life chances.

The interventions under the Child Rights cover children in the age group of 3-14 years and covers the following programmes:
